Recap: St. Louis vs. Atlanta

St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Michael Bourn went 3-for-6 with a solo home run, two RBI and two runs scored and Brandon Beachy pitched six strong innings as the Atlanta Braves took a 7-2 win over the St. Louis Cardinals in the second of a three-game set.

Beachy (4-1) gave up just one run on two hits with four walks and six strikeouts for the Braves, who have won six of eight.

Brian McCann went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored while Dan Uggla scored twice as the Atlanta offense gave Beachy plenty of support.

"I can go right after guys when I fall behind 2-0 like I did quite a bit tonight," Beachy said of the support. "I can come back and get a guy out whereas if that's a [0-0] game, I have to be a little more fine in those counts."

Adam Wainwright (2-4) gave up five runs on nine hits with five walks and five strikeouts in just 4 1/3 innings for the Cardinals, who have dropped the first two games of this set after winning four straight. Rafael Furcal and Allen Craig each drove in a run in the loss.

Wainwright had a tough start to the game as he loaded the bases with no outs in the first then walked Uggla and McCann to give the Braves two easy runs. He retired the next three batters, but the damage was done.

"You throw 39 pitches or whatever it was in the first inning, you're putting yourself behind," said Wainwright.

In the third, Uggla doubled with one out and McCann followed with an RBI single for a 3-0 lead.

RBI singles from Tyler Pastornicky and Beachy in the fifth made it a 5-0 game.

Craig lifted a sacrifice fly in the sixth, while Bourn led off the eighth with his first homer of the year.

Daniel Descalso started the eighth with a triple and scored on a single by Furcal to again make it a four-run game, but Bourn singled home a run in the ninth to account for the final score.
