Recap: LA Angels vs. Chicago WSox

Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Albert Pujols hit a three-run home run to help the LA Angels of Anaheim take a 7-2 win over the Chicago White Sox in the opener of a two-game set.

Vernon Wells hit a two-run home run and scored twice while Alberto Callaspo and Mark Trumbo added three hits and a run scored each for the Angels, who have won their past two.

Jerome Williams (4-1) went eight innings and gave up two runs on 10 hits with five strikeouts to win his fourth straight decision.

"I felt good and I was throwing the ball where I needed to," said Williams. "I just want to go out there and pitch well. When we score, I just try to go back out there and throw up a zero."

Dayan Viciedo hit a solo home run and Gordon Beckham drove in the other run for the White Sox, who have lost four of their last five. Gavin Floyd (3-4) was tagged for seven runs on 10 hits with a walk and four strikeouts over six innings in the loss.

"We had guys swinging but the balls just didn't want to fall in," said Chicago manager Robin Ventura. "They were swinging the bats well and you have to tip your cap to them."

The Angels took the lead in the second when Wells worked a two-out walk and came home when Erick Aybar followed with a double for a 1-0 lead.

Chicago answered in the third. With one out, Viciedo hit a homer to center for his fifth of the year. After Brent Morel grounded out, Alejandro De Aza singled and Beckham followed with a double for a 2-1 lead.

The Angels, though, grabbed the lead back in the third. Mike Trout and Callaspo singled and Pujols followed with his second homer of the season for a 4-2 advantage.

The score stayed that was until the sixth when the Angels padded their lead. Kendrys Morales led off with a single and Trumbo followed with a double. A sacrifice fly from Howie Kedrick came ahead of a first-pitch homer from Wells for a 7-2 lead.

Jason Isringhausen worked a scoreless ninth to close out the game.
