Recap: Toronto vs. Baltimore

Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Brandon Morrow pitched into the seventh inning and Toronto got four solo homers in a 4-1 win over Baltimore to sweep a three- game set.

Morrow (6-3) gave up just one run on four hits with two walks and eight strikeouts as he went 6 1/3 innings. He had to leave in the seventh after a line drive back to the mound by Wilson Betemit hit him in his right leg.

He was helped off the field and an X-ray showed that there was no break in the leg and the team side he has a bruised right shin.

"We were able to dodge a bullet there," said Toronto manager John Farrell. "He does have a contusion on the outside of the right shin. But the fact that he is starting next Wednesday, we will take every day available to us in preparation for his next start."

Edwin Encarnacion, Colby Rasmus, Brett Lawrie and Rajai Davis each hit a solo homer for the Blue Jays, who had lost five straight coming into the series.

"Overall it was a very clean game," said Farrell. "Brandon hit his stride in the third inning and four swings of the bat were the difference tonight."

Jason Hammel (6-2) gave up all four homers and nine hits with two walks and five strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings for the Orioles, who have lost five straight. Ryan Flaherty drove in the lone run while Adam Jones went 0-for-2 with a walk to see his 20-game hitting streak come to an end.

Baltimore got on the board in the second as Mark Reynolds walked, moved to third on a Betemit single and came home on a Flaherty base hit.

Toronto, though, homered in each of the next four innings.

The first came in the second when Encarnacion led off with his 17th of the year, and Davis followed suit with a leadoff shot to left in the third for a 2-1 lead.

Lawrie then led off the fourth with his fourth of the year and Rasmus hit a one-out homer in the fifth for a 4-1 lead.

Carlos Villanueva relieved Morrow and retired the next two batters to leave Betemit stranded at first.

Francisco Cordero worked a 1-2-3 eighth and Casey Janssen pitched a scoreless ninth for his fifth save of the season.
