Recap: NY Yankees vs. Toronto

Bronx, NY (Sports Network) - Mark Teixeira hit a two-run home run as the New York Yankees topped the Toronto Blue Jays, 6-0, in a rain-shortened game to complete a three-game sweep.

Dewayne Wise added a pair of RBI while Jayson Nix finished with two hits, an and two runs scored for the Yankees, who finished a six-game homestand with a 5-1 record.

Hiroki Kuroda (9-7) tossed all seven innings for New York, scattering four hits and striking out five.

"His command was great," Yankees catcher Russell Martin said of Kuroda. "The Blue Jays are an aggressive team. We kind of used their aggressiveness against them, pounding them in and then speeding them up and then using off-speed (pitches) when we needed to."

Ricky Romero (8-6) surrendered all six runs on 12 hits and two walks in six innings for Toronto, which has dropped four of its last six.

"It's disappointing to get swept here in New York against a very good team," Romero said. "We weren't able to do much."

After the Blue Jays stranded a man on third in the top of the first inning, New York struck for four runs in the bottom of the frame to take control.

Derek Jeter started the rally with a leadoff double to the wall in right field and came home on Nick Swisher's base hit down the first-base line. Teixeira followed with a blast over the left-center field wall for his 19th homer of the year.

Robinson Cano then lifted a ball to left that bounced out of the glove of Rajai Davis as he made a leaping attempt. That landed the batter on second with a double and he came home on Andruw Jones' single to right to give the Yankees a 4-0 advantage.

New York added to its lead in the fourth inning when Nix hit a one-out double and came home two batters later on Wise's ground-rule double to right field.

Nix singled, advanced to second on a Martin groundout and crossed the plate on a Wise base hit up the middle in the sixth to increase the Yankees' lead to 6-0.

Kuroda, meanwhile, stranded a man on second in the fifth inning and a runner on third in the seventh before play was called due to rain before the start of the home seventh.
