Recap: Oakland vs. Texas

Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Jarrod Parker carried a no-hitter into the eighth inning and Brandon Inge knocked in four runs as the Oakland Athletics rolled over the Texas Rangers, 12-1, in the first of four games at the Coliseum.

Parker (2-2), who was making just his ninth career start, allowed just a leadoff single to Michael Young in the eighth inning while walking three and striking out six over eight dominant innings.

"You go that late in the game and you're a competitor, I don't want to give up hits, give up runs or anything like that. It was something where I wanted to finish it," Parker said.

Inge had a three-run homer and Kila Ka'aihue hit a two-run shot while Yoenis Cespedes and Jemile Weeks each had two RBI in Oakland's second win in three games.

Scott Feldman (0-4) gave up eight runs on seven hits and a walk in just 1 2/3 innings to absorb the loss for the Rangers, who have dropped five of six.

Parker took the mound for the eighth inning having already thrown 107 pitches, and hung a slider on the second pitch of the frame that Young slapped up the middle to break up his no-hit bid.

It would take Parker just two more throws to get out of the inning, though, as Nelson Cruz popped up to second and David Murphy grounded into a double play to retire the side.

"He kept us off-balance, we just couldn't get anything going," Texas manager Ron Washington said of Parker.

Outfielder Craig Gentry pitched the eighth inning for Texas and allowed a two- run double to Cespedes to stretch Oakland's lead up to 12-0.

Mike Napoli's leadoff home run off Jim Miller in the ninth accounted for the Rangers' lone run.

The Athletics wasted no time in jumping all over Feldman, scoring eight runs in the second inning against the righty to get more than enough offense for Parker and knock Feldman out of the game.

The first six runs came without recording an out as Cespedes opened the frame with a walk and Seth Smith followed with a single before Inge pulled a ball over the left-field wall for a three-run homer.

After Ka'aihue and Kurt Suzuki hit back-to-back singles, Cliff Pennington sent a double to right to bring home Ka'aihue and Weeks slapped a base hit to center to score Suzuki and Pennington.

It seemed as if Feldman would limit the damage there as Cespedes later went down swinging with runners on first and second for the inning's second out, but Smith then hit his second single of the frame to plate Weeks and end Feldman's day.

Robbie Ross entered next and gave up a run-scoring single to Inge for his third RBI of the inning, but a Ka'aihue grounder to first ended the frame, giving Oakland an 8-0 lead.

Ka'aihue's two-run blast over the right-center field wall in the fifth inning increased the A's lead to double digits.

Prior to the eighth inning, the only baserunners Parker allowed were walks to Josh Hamilton in the first inning, Murphy in the third and Elvis Andrus in the seventh.
