Recap: Pittsburgh vs. Tampa Bay

Bradenton, FL (Sports Network) - Matt Mangini's go-ahead two-run single in a three-run eighth inning lifted the Tampa Bay Rays past the Pittsburgh Pirates, 8-6, in spring training action.

Will Rhymes had a solo home run in the eighth for Tampa Bay. Starter James Shields allowed five runs -- three earned -- on 10 hits and two walks in 5 2/3 innings. He struck out six.

Yamaico Navarro had three hits, one of them a solo homer, and three runs batted in for the Pirates. Starter Jeff Karstens gave up three runs -- two earned -- on four hits over five innings.
