Recap: Chicago Cubs vs. Arizona

Mesa, AZ (Sports Network) - Paul Goldschmidt hit a grand slam during a seven- run seventh inning Thursday and the Arizona Diamondbacks cruised to a 12-2 win over the Chicago Cubs in spring training.

Henry Blanco and Alfredo Marte added solo homers for the Diamondbacks, who banged out 16 hits and had an 11-0 run at one point.

Michael Brenley hit a solo homer for the Cubs but starter Ryan Dempster gave up three runs on eight hits and a walk in 3 2/3 innings to take the loss.

Arizona starter Ian Kennedy pitched four scoreless innings, striking out three and giving up five hits and a walk.
