Recap: NY Yankees vs. Washington

Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - Brandon Laird's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th inning scored Justin Maxwell with the deciding run as the Yankees clipped Washington, 4-3, in Grapefruit League action.

Alex Rodriguez hit a two-run homer and Robinson Cano added an RBI double for New York, which might have been spurred to victory with the knowledge that Andy Pettitte joined the ranks again on a minor league deal after a year away from baseball.

Steve Lombardozzi finished 3-for-3 with a homer and two runs scored for the Nats, who got an RBI from Jesus Flores in defeat.
