Recap: Tampa Bay vs. Minnesota

Port Charlotte, FL (Sports Network) - J.R. Towles followed Daniel Rohlfing's leadoff single in the ninth inning with a two-run homer Sunday, lifting the Minnesota Twins to a 5-3 win over the Tampa Bay Rays in spring training.

Chris Parmelee also had a two-run homer for the Twins, giving them a 3-2 lead in the sixth inning. Robinson Chirinos tied it for Tampa Bay with an RBI base hit in the seventh.

Terry Doyle started for Minnesota and struck out one batter in two hitless innings. Jeremy Hellickson also went two frames for the Rays, giving up one hit.

Aaron Thompson (1-0) pitched a perfect eighth for the win while Josh Lueke (0-1) gave up Towles' go-ahead homer. Casey Fien threw a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth for the save.
