Recap: Detroit vs. NY Mets

Lakeland, FL (Sports Network) - Andy Dirks doubled in the tying run in the bottom of the eighth inning, helping Detroit forge a 7-7 deadlock with the New York Mets in Grapefruit League play.

Alex Avila finished with two hits and two RBI and Miguel Cabrera added a pair of hits and a run driven in. Drew Smyly allowed a run on two hits in his two- inning start.

Lucas Duda's grand slam highlighted a six-run fifth inning for the Mets, and Mike Nickeas added two hits and two RBI.

Jon Niese served up five hits and three runs with four strikeouts in three full frames.
