Surprise, AZ (Sports Network) - Bryan LaHair went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored as the Chicago Cubs defeated the Kansas City Royals, 6-4, on Wednesday.

Jeff Samardzija struck out three and allowed just one hit in three innings for the Cubs, who also got two hits from Reed Johnson and Starlin Castro.

Jonathan Sanchez allowed four runs -- three earned -- on four hits in one inning of work for Kansas City.

Max Ramirez had a two-run single for the Royals.
