San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - Chase Headley and Jesus Guzman hit back-to- back home runs off Jonathan Sanchez in the third inning, lifting San Diego to a 2-1 spring training win over Kansas City.

Clayton Richard started for the Padres and gave up three hits and fanned five over six shutout innings. These teams play again on Wednesday afternoon to conclude the exhibition schedule.

Sanchez also fanned five over three innings. The Royals got a homer from Brayan Pena in the seventh inning off Joe Thatcher.
