Mesa, AZ (Sports Network) - Bryan LaHair smacked an RBI double in the bottom of the first to help lift the Chicago Cubs to a 2-0 decision over the San Diego Padres in spring training action on Monday.

Reed Johnson added an RBI single in the second, providing enough run support for starter Paul Maholm, who tossed five scoreless innings of four-hit ball to secure the victory for Chicago.

Will Venable finished with two of the Padres' six hits as starter Tim Stauffer allowed two runs on seven hits and one walk over five innings of work.
