Recap: Miami vs. Philadelphia

Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Chase Utley tripled home the go-ahead run with two outs in the top of the 10th inning, and the visiting Philadelphia Phillies topped the sputtering Miami Marlins, 3-1, in the opener of a three-game series.

Ben Revere hit a one-out single off Miami reliever Jon Rauch (0-1) and raced home when Utley ripped a ball into the right-field corner.

"(Rauch) left a changeup up that I was able to get down the line and with Ben's speed, he was running on the pitch, he was going to score easily," Utley said.

After Rauch intentionally walked Ryan Howard, who doubled twice, Michael Young provided more breathing room with an RBI single. Young hit a grounder up the middle and Marlins shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria made a great play to keep it in the infield. He flipped the ball to second, but Donovan Solano failed to get his foot on the base before Howard arrived.

Jonathan Papelbon earned his second save of the season by retiring the Marlins in order in the bottom of the 10th. Phillippe Aumont (1-0) picked up his first major league win after pitching the ninth.

Domonic Brown had two hits and knocked in the other run for the Phillies, who have won three games in a row.

Ex-Phillie Placido Polanco accounted for half of the Marlins' four hits and drove in their only run.

Miami, at 1-9, is off to the franchise's worst start since opening the 1998 season 1-11.

"I know the effort is there. I know guys are playing hard and working hard and trying to get on the other side of this thing. We just got to stay at it," said Miami manager Mike Redmond.

Philadelphia starter John Lannan and the Marlins' Ricky Nolasco each tossed five scoreless innings before giving up a run in the sixth.

After stranding a runner at third base three times in the first five frames, the Phillies finally broke through as a two-out double to left field by Brown plated Howard.

A two-out single by Polanco brought home Juan Pierre, who had been hit by a pitch, from second. Pierre and Polanco were teammates on the Phillies last year.

The Marlins threatened in the eighth, placing runners on the corners with one out, but Philadelphia reliever Mike Adams got Solano to ground into an inning- ending double play.

Game Notes
