Recap: Boston vs. Toronto

Boston, MA (Sports Network) - Adam Lind's solo home run in the ninth inning led the Toronto Blue Jays to a 3-2 win over the Boston Red Sox in the second of three games from Fenway Park.

Lind finished the game 3-for-4 with two runs scored, while Melky Cabrera and Colby Rasmus each drove in a run for the Blue Jays, who snapped a three-game losing streak.

Darren Oliver (2-1) got the win despite blowing a two-run lead in the eighth inning. Mark Buehrle was solid in a seven-plus inning performance, giving up just one run on five hits with two walks and five strikeouts.

"That's vintage Buehrle right there," said Toronto manager John Gibbons. "He had it going today. A tough day to pitch. A short left field wall and you had the wind the blowing out. That's as good as it gets."

Jacoby Ellsbury and Dustin Pedroia each drove in a run for the Red Sox, who have dropped seven of nine.

Clay Buchholz gave up just two runs on six hits over eight innings, while Junichi Tazawa (2-2) was tagged with the loss for giving up the home run in the ninth.

"I thought both guys on the mound threw the ball exceptionally well today," said Boston manager John Farrell. "This was a solid game from both clubs today, we just came out on the losing end."

Toronto had blew a two-run lead in the eighth, but Lind led off the ninth by clubbing a curveball over the wall in dead center for his second home run of the year and a 3-2 lead.

Casey Janssen started the ninth by giving up a leadoff double to Will Middlebrooks, but he set down the next three batters to pick up his 10th save of the season.

There was a 50-minute delay to the start of the game due to rain, but once action got underway the Blue Jays took the lead in the third inning.

Rasmus led off the frame with a walk and, after Emilio Bonifacio struck out, moved to second on a Munenori Kawasaki sacrifice bunt. Cabrera followed with a single to left for a 1-0 lead.

In the fourth, Toronto got a leadoff single from Lind, who moved to second on a Brett Lawrie groundout and crossed the plate thanks to a single from Rasmus for a 2-0 advantage.

Boston had runners in each of the first three innings, but a strikeout of Mike Napoli to end the third inning began a run of 13 consecutive batters retired by Buehrle until he was pulled after beginning the eighth with a walk to David Ross.

Darren Oliver took over on the mound and promptly gave up an RBI triple to Ellsbury, who came home two batters later when Pedroia hit a sharp grounder to short that Kawasaki misplayed.

Game Notes

The last time Buchholz faced the Blue Jays on May 1, two Toronto analysts accused him of using a foreign substance on his arm to get a better grip on the ball ... Before the game, Boston announced that pitcher Joel Hanrahan will miss the rest of the season as he will undergo surgery for a torn flexor muscle tendon in his right arm ... Buehrle came into the game having given up 17 earned runs over his past three starts ... Boston went 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.
