Recap: Boston vs. Toronto

Boston, MA (Sports Network) - Stephen Drew and Jacoby Ellsbury each knocked in two runs as the Boston Red Sox used a two-run seventh to beat the Toronto Blue Jays, 7-5, in the second contest of a four-game series.

Drew, however, left the game in the bottom of the fourth inning with tightness in his right hamstring. He suffered the injury while sliding into second following a double.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Jonny Gomes and Mike Napoli added an RBI apiece for Boston, which has won four in a row.

Allen Webster got the start for the Red Sox and gave up four runs on six hits over six-plus innings. Andrew Miller (1-2) tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win.

Edwin Encarnacion hit a solo homer and knocked in two runs for the Blue Jays, who have lost four of five games since their season-high 11-game winning streak. Maicer Izturis, Adam Lind and Jose Bautista each drove in a run.

"We played so good for so long. That's the way the game works sometimes," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said. "You're bound to cool off a little bit."

Toronto starter Josh Johnson allowed five runs on eight hits over 3 1/3 innings. Neil Wagner (1-2) gave up two runs on three hits while recording just two outs.

The Red Sox blew a five-run lead but scored a pair of runs in the seventh. Shane Victorino and Dustin Pedroia hit consecutive singles off Wagner. Brett Cecil came in from the bullpen and walked Napoli with one out to load the bases. Gomes came on as a pinch-hitter and hit an RBI single to left. Darren Oliver then took over on the mound and immediately walked Saltalamacchia to force in another run.

"It was a good response to Encarnacion's homer (in the top of the seventh)," Boston manager John Farrell said. "Just a well played game all the way around."

Koji Uehara tossed a scoreless ninth to record his fourth save of the season.

Boston jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning. With one out, Napoli walked and Daniel Nava singled. After Saltalamacchia struck out swinging, Drew hit a two-run triple to center that deflected off Colby Rasmus' glove.

The Red Sox tacked on another run in the third. Ellsbury singled and moved to second on a passed ball. Following two quick outs, David Ortiz was intentionally walked. Napoli hit an RBI single before Ortiz was thrown out at the plate on Nava's base hit.

Boston used a two-run fourth to make it a 5-0 game. Drew left the game following his one-out double to center. Brandon Snyder came on as a pinch- runner and advanced to third on Jose Iglesias' single. Ellsbury followed with a two-run single to right-center field, chasing Johnson from the game.

The Blue Jays got back in the contest by scoring three runs in the fifth. With runners on the corners and one out, Bautista and Encarnacion hit back-to-back RBI singles. Lind's sacrifice fly cut the gap to 5-3.

Toronto scored once in the sixth and seventh frames to tie the game. Rajai Davis singled, stole second, moved to third on J.P. Arencibia's groundout and crossed the plate on Izturis' sacrifice fly.

Encarnacion's homer in the seventh made it 5-5.
