Recap: NY Mets vs. Arizona

Flushing, NY (Sports Network) - An offensive explosion during a seven-run seventh inning handed Patrick Corbin his first loss of the season and propelled the New York Mets to a 9-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks Tuesday at a rainy Citi Field.

Josh Satin snapped a 1-1 tie with an RBI double prior to the contest heading into a 1-hour and 41-minute rain delay, and when play resumed New York added four more run-scoring hits to pave the way to its second win in as many nights.

"We're all tired," said Mets manager Terry Collins. "I just think they know we can compete with anybody out there if they execute their game."

Anthony Recker hit a solo homer and drove in a pair and Omar Quintanilla drove in three while accumulating two hits to provide Jeremy Hefner (3-6) with plenty of support.

Hefner tossed seven innings of one-run ball and allowed just four hits while striking out six. The righty has a 1.51 earned run average over his last six starts.

Corbin (9-1) was aiming to become the first Arizona starter to win his first 10 decisions, but loaded the bases in the seventh before giving way to the rain delay. He was charged with five runs on six hits over six frames.

"We're not really clicking on anything right now," Corbin said. "Just hopefully we can start putting things together, start getting some wins. We're just not playing good baseball right now, and it's a long season. We've just got to hope we turn it around soon."

Recker broke the scoreless tie in the fifth with a homer, and when play restarted in the seventh he ripped an RBI single off reliever Brad Ziegler to open the flood gates to the game-changing inning.

Quintanilla then ripped a two-run single into right to make it 5-1 and two batters later, Eric Young Jr. plated a pair with a double down the left field line. Juan Lagares then greeted reliever Will Harris with an RBI single and Quintanilla delivered another run-scoring hit the following frame to cap the scoring.

Hefner had gotten the leadoff hitter out in seven consecutive innings, but Martin Prado produced Arizona's only run with a one-out homer in the seventh.

The Mets managed just one run on three hits through the first six innings against Corbin, but matched those totals in the seventh before recording an out.

Satin had an opportunity with runners in scoring position after a single from David Wright and a double from Marlon Byrd, and the hot-hitting righty came through with a hit into the center field gap.

A.J. Pollock was unable to make the diving snag on Satin's shot, allowing Wright to trot home. Corbin then issued a walk to Andrew Brown before the contest was sent into a rain delay.

Game Notes

The Mets have won 11 of their last 17 games ... Young made his first start at second base since 2011 ... The D'backs have dropped a season-worst five straight games and 10 of their last 11 road contests ... Arizona's Gerardo Parra sat out after attempting to make a diving catch in Monday's loss.
