Recap: Philadelphia vs. St. Louis

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Ben Revere hit the go-ahead single and Erik Kratz provided insurance with a three-run homer as part of a four-run eighth inning in the Philadelphia Phillies' 7-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals in the finale of a four-game set.

"The big thing for our offense is we got to be more consistent. I think you've seen our bench players being able to make contact," Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said.

After hitting into an inning-ending double play with the bases loaded in the sixth, Revere stepped up with runners on the corners and one away after Michael Young and Dominic Brown had back-to-back singles in the eighth.

Revere slapped Mitchell Boggs' (0-2) 1-1 offering back up the box to bring home Young before Kratz pounded a no-doubt shot deep into the seats in left to make it 7-3.

"He's a big part of our club. He'll get over it," Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said of Boggs.

Jimmy Rollins had three hits and scored a run for Philadelphia, which had dropped six of its last eight games coming in.

Jonathan Papelbon tossed a scoreless ninth to seal the win, while Mike Adams (1-1) was credited with the win with a 1-2-3 eighth.

Matt Carpenter smacked a solo shot in the opening frame for the Cardinals, who have alternated wins and losses over their last seven tilts.

The Phillies countered in the home first with a pair of runs. Rollins led off with a triple and after John Mayberry Jr. walked, Utley brought Rollins home with a sharp grounder through the hole on the right side. Ryan Howard lifted a sacrifice fly to center to plate Mayberry and make it 2-1.

St. Louis, though, plated a run apiece in the sixth and seventh frames to take the lead.

David Freese recorded an RBI groundout in the sixth, while Allen Craig hooked a one-out, RBI base hit in the seventh to put the Cards on top, 3-2.

Philly answered in the home half. After Kratz singled to begin the inning, Nix finished off a 10-pitch at-bat by ripping a double into the gap in left-center to score Kratz and knot the tilt at 3-3.
