Recap: Toronto vs. Boston

Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Mark Buehrle tossed seven innings of one-run baseball and the Toronto Blue Jays scored twice in the seventh inning to claim a 2-1 victory over the Boston Red Sox in the rubber match of a three-game series.

Buehrle (9-7) gave up 10 hits while striking out four for the Blue Jays, who have won two in a row since a three-game skid. The left-hander has won his last four decisions.

Mark DeRosa and Brett Lawrie each had an RBI in the seventh for Toronto.

Jacoby Ellsbury drove in the lone run for the Red Sox, who went 4-6 on a 10- game road trip. Boston starter Jake Peavy (9-5) allowed two runs on five hits over six-plus innings.

"I got away from the game plan a little bit and focused on getting ground balls and double plays," said Peavy.

The Red Sox had a runner thrown out at the plate in the first inning. With two outs, Dustin Pedroia singled and David Ortiz walked. However, Pedroia was tagged out at home on Jonny Gomes' single to left.

Boston wasted a golden scoring opportunity during its next at-bat. With the bags filled and two outs, Shane Victorino flied out.

The Red Sox finally got on the board in the fourth. Daniel Nava doubled down the left-field line, moved to third on Will Middlebrooks' single and scored when Ellsbury grounded into a fielder's choice.

Peavy shut down the Blue Jays until the seventh. Jose Bautista, Edwin Encarnacion and Lawrie hit three straight singles to plate a run. Craig Breslow was called in from the bullpen to face pinch-hitter DeRosa, who hit a sacrifice fly to center. J.P. Arencibia flied out and Kevin Pillar struck out swinging to end the inning, but not before Toronto took a 2-1 lead.

"I kind of figured he would approach me the same way as he did last night. This time around the pitches went for balls and I was able to get myself into a good hitter's count and just tried to hit a fly ball to the outfield and give us a lead," said DeRosa.

Darren Oliver stranded runners on first and second in the eighth. Casey Janssen pitched a perfect ninth to pick up his 22nd save of the season.
