Recap: Philadelphia vs. Atlanta

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Humberto Quintero went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and three RBI as the Philadelphia Phillies edged the Atlanta Braves, 5-4, in the opener of a three-game set at Citizens Bank Park.

Ryan Howard added a solo homer and Ben Revere went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored for the Phillies, winners in three of their last four games.

Cliff Lee (10-2) was charged with four runs on eight hits over 6 1/3 innings. Lee, who has won his last eight decisions, struck out four without issuing a walk.

Jonathan Papelbon worked a scoreless ninth to earn his 18th save of the season.

Dan Uggla hit a three-run homer and Andrelton Simmons drove in a run for the Braves, losers in three straight.

Paul Maholm (9-7) was tagged for five runs -- four earned -- on nine hits over six innings to absorb the loss.

The Phillies pushed a run across in the first inning. Chase Utley doubled and Jimmy Rollins reached on an infield single to put two on with one out. Howard then ripped a grounder to first baseman Freddie Freeman, whose throw to second sailed into the outfield, allowing Utley to come around.

Quintero smacked a controversial two-run homer to right field in the second to make it 3-1. Revere doubled before Quintero laced one to right field. A fan appeared to reach over the railing and touch the ball, but following an official review, it was determined that the ball was touched after clearing the top of the railing.

"That was a huge home run by him. He calls a really good game. He had a huge all-around impact on us winning the game," Lee said of Quintero.

Howard clobbered a solo shot in the third to put the Phils up 4-0. Howard crushed a 1-0 fastball into the bullpen in right-center field.

Quintero doubled home Delmon Young in the sixth to give Philadelphia a five- run edge. Uggla's relay-throw from right field beat Young to the plate, but Brian McCann couldn't hold on as Young slid across home.

Atlanta finally got to Lee in the seventh and broke through for four runs. Freeman was hit by a pitch and Chris Johnson singled to put two on for Uggla, who hammered a fastball deep into the seats in left-center field.

"We had one good inning where we put some pressure on him. He was on his game. He was able to use both sides of the plate and mix his speeds. He was on his game until the seventh inning," McCann said of Lee.

McCann doubled, moved to third on Reed Johnson's single before scoring on Simmons' sacrifice fly to center.

Game Notes

Lee became the NL's fourth 10-game winner. He hasn't lost since May 1 ... Howard has 11 homers this season ... Revere is batting .337 since May 1 ... Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez and catcher Gerald Laird were each ejected in the third inning by home plate umpire Angel Hernandez for arguing balls and strikes ... Uggla has struck out 106 times this season.
