Recap: Chicago Cubs vs. Milwaukee

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Yovani Gallardo struck out six over seven strong innings and the Milwaukee Brewers extended their unbeaten streak in road series with a 3-1 decision over the Chicago Cubs.

Gallardo (11-9) allowed three hits, including Junior Lake's home run in the fifth inning. The right-hander, who added an RBI single in the seventh, is 3-0 over his last six outings.

"His command was really good," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said of Gallardo. "He's had his good command for quite a few starts."

Pinch-hitter Jeff Bianchi had the go-ahead two-run single in the seventh as the Brewers moved to 5-0-2 over their last seven road series.

Scott Baker made his long-awaited return to the majors and gave up just two hits over the first five innings for the Cubs. Baker had not pitched in a big league game since September 24, 2011 with Minnesota due to Tommy John surgery.

"There were some emotions there. It's been a long road and I was happy my family was here to share this moment because they're just as much a part of this as I am," Baker said.

Justin Grimm (0-1) threw the ensuing 1 1/3 innings for the Cubs, who totaled just three hits and fell for the fourth time in six games, and allowed two runs to take the loss.

Lake's homer to left field put the Cubs on top, but the Brewers went ahead by sending eight men to the plate in the seventh. Aramis Ramirez doubled and Carlos Gomez singled to chase Grimm, with both runners advancing a base on the throw.

James Russell came out of the bullpen, but surrendered Bianchi's ground-ball base hit up the middle. Later in the frame, Gallardo singled to left field to bring in Bianchi.

Brandon Kintzler retired the Cubs in order in the eighth inning and Jim Henderson did the same in the ninth to pick up his 24th save.
