Recap: Chicago WSox vs. Minnesota

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Ryan Doumit scored in the 10th inning when Alexei Ramirez committed a throwing error attempting to get Eduardo Escobar out at first, as the Minnesota Twins edged the Chicago White Sox, 2-1, on Saturday.

Josh Willingham drove in the other run for the Twins, who did not play in Wednesday and Friday's games against the Angels and White Sox, respectively, as both games were postponed. Along with a game against the Mets that was supposed to be played on Sunday, the Twins have three games this season that were postponed.

Twins starter Vance Worley was solid, allowing a run on five hits and two walks over seven innings in a no-decision. Casey Fien (1-1) got the final out in the ninth to pick up the win. Glen Perkins worked around a walk in the bottom of the 10th to pick up his fourth save of the season as the Twins won their third in a row. They also snapped a four-game skid against the White Sox.

"I had it figured out," said Worley. "Today, I pitched. It wasn't me trying to overdo any thing out there. It was just going after hitters and trust in my mechanics, thus made pitching a little easier."

Hector Santiago (0-1) came to replace Matt Thornton for the White Sox on the mound to start the 10th. Doumit doubled to deep left to lead off the inning. Aaron Hicks bunted, but that ended in a pop out to second. With one out, Escobar was batting. He hit a slow shot to Ramirez, who bounced the throw to Jeff Keppinger, who was unable to catch it. As a result, Doumit was able to score.

Perkins came in for the Twins in the bottom of the inning. He walked Tyler Flowers with one out, but struck out De Aza and a pop out by Keppinger ended the game.

Alejandro De Aza had a home run for the White Sox, who saw starter Jake Peavy strike out nine and give up a run on six hits and four walks over seven innings.

De Aza's leadoff homer in the first got the White Sox on the board..

In the third, Brian Dozier singled and Joe Mauer drew a walk. Josh Willingham hit a live drive to center, plating Dozier.

The Twins wasted an opportunity with two men on base in the sixth and the White Sox did the same in the seventh. Minnesota had the bases loaded in the eighth, but Nate Jones got pinch-Hitter Wilkin Ramirez to ground into a force play at the plate. Dozier then fouled out to cap the inning.

Trevor Plouffe grounded out with two men on to end the top of the ninth.
