Recap: Chicago WSox vs. Cleveland

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Alex Rios clubbed a two-run home run in the fifth to help the Chicago White Sox halt a four-game skid with a 3-2 victory over the Cleveland Indians in the finale of a rain-shortened series at U.S. Cellular Field.

Jose Quintana (2-0) allowed two runs on four hits and two walks over five frames, while Addison Reed worked around a two-out single in the ninth to secure his sixth save of the season.

Jeff Keppinger collected two hits and knocked in the other run for the White Sox, who earned a split in the series after the middle test was postponed due to rain.

Zach McAllister (1-3) absorbed the loss after giving up three runs on five hits and five walks over 5 2/3 frames.

Jason Kipnis and Mark Reynolds each registered an RBI for the Indians, who had won three straight, including a 3-2 decision in Monday's series opener.

After Quintana retired the Tribe in order in the first, Chicago pushed a run across in the bottom half when Alejandro De Aza worked a leadoff walk, stole second and then crossed home on Keppinger's single to left-center field.

Rios padded Chicago's lead in the fifth when he followed Keppinger's two-out single with a blast into the first row in left field to make it 3-0.

Quintana blanked the Tribe over the first five frames to extend his scoreless streak to 18 2/3 innings before running into trouble in the sixth.

"He's been pitching great," Chicago manager Robin Ventura said of Quintana. "Up until that sixth inning, he just looked strong."

Drew Stubbs worked a leadoff walk and moved to third on Michael Brantley's single before scoring on Kipnis' base hit to right to bring the Indians within 3-1 and chase Quintana from the contest.

Nate Jones entered and served up a sacrifice fly to Reynolds to plate Brantley before Kipnis swiped second and third.

Jones was able to pitch his way out the jam however, as he fanned Nick Swisher before flying out Ryan Raburn to end the inning with the White Sox clinging to a 3-2 edge.

"We battled and battled and put guys on and we just didn't get that one hit to put us over the top," Raburn admitted. "We just didn't quite get the job done."

Jones, Matt Thornton and Jesse Crain combined to keep the Tribe off the board over the next two frames before Reed closed out the contest by getting Lonnie Chisenhall to ground out to short.
