Recap: Chicago WSox vs. LA Angels

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Chris Sale struck out seven during a one-hit shutout on Sunday, as the Chicago White Sox blanked the LA Angels of Anaheim, 3-0, to salvage the finale of a three-game series at U.S. Cellular Field.

Sale (4-2) was nearly perfect, allowing just one hit on a clean single up the middle from Mike Trout with one away in the seventh inning.

"If you are going to give it up, you might as well give it up to him," Sale said of losing his bid at a perfect game to Trout.

Chris Iannetta was the only other Angel to reach base on an error to start the ninth, but the lanky left-hander bounced back by inducing a double-play groundout from Luis Jimenez before flying out Alberto Callaspo to secure his first career shutout and second complete game.

"I come to the ballpark every day when I'm pitching and just want to keep my team in the game and win this game," Sale added.

Alexei Ramirez recorded three hits, two RBI and a run scored, while Alex Rios added an RBI double to help the White Sox snap a four-game home skid.

C.J. Wilson (3-2) allowed all three runs on six hits and four walks over 6 2/3 frames to absorb the loss, which snapped LA's three-game winning streak.

"When he's on he's unbelievable," Angels outfielder Josh Hamilton said of Sale. "He mixes his pitches well. It's almost like you've got to give up one to kind of focus on something else."

After singling in the seventh to break up Sale's bid at perfection, Trout moved to second on an Albert Pujols' groundout before stealing third.

Sale responded by fanning Mark Trumbo to escape unscathed before Chicago's offense finally came to life in the bottom half.

Tyler Flowers worked a one-out walk off Wilson and Tyler Greene followed with a single to center.

Both runners moved up a base on Wilson's wild pitch, and after Alejandro De Aza grounded out for the second out, Ramirez ripped a single through the hole on the left side to score Flowers and Greene for a 2-0 lead.

Michael Kohn took over for Wilson and Rios greeted the LA reliever with a run- scoring double into the left-field corner to provide Sale with more than enough run support.
