Recap: Chicago WSox vs. Texas

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Jordan Danks took over for an injured Avisail Garcia in right field and finished 2-for-3 with a homer, while his brother John Danks tossed six strong innings as the Chicago White Sox took a 5-2 win over the Texas Rangers in the finale of a three-game series.

Danks (4-10) has won his past two starts as he gave up two runs on eight hits with a walk and five strikeouts on Sunday for the White Sox, who have won eight of their last nine games.

Matt Garza (3-2) gave up five runs -- four earned -- on seven hits and two walks over seven innings for the Rangers, who dropped the final two games of this set and hold a 2 1/2 games lead over Oakland for first place in the AL West. Jeff Baker provided Texas with its only runs on a a two-run homer.

"We've got a lot of baseball left still," said Baker. "We're not worried because we played a good game, we just couldn't get that big hit we needed today."

Jordan Danks took over in right field after Avisail Garcia crashed into the wall on Baker's home run in the fourth.

That home run had tied the game at 2-2, but Danks gave his team the lead back in his first at-bat as he smoked a pitch over the right field wall for his third home run of the year and a 3-2 lead.

"I think it was pretty cool to be able to come into the game and help my brother out," said Jordan Danks. "That home run felt really good and it was a good game all-around from the whole club."

The White Sox made it a 4-2 game in the sixth as Alexei Ramirez doubled to start the frame and came home on Adam Dunn's single.

Texas loaded the bases with one out in the seventh, but Matt Lindstrom got Adrian Beltre to hit into a 5-4-3 double play to end the frame.

Josh Phegley's solo homer in the seventh made it a 5-2 contest.

Nate Jones stranded a man on second in the eighth, and Addison Reed pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his 35th save of the season.

Gordon Beckham's fly ball to center in the third scored two runners as Craig Gentry misplayed the ball, giving the White Sox a 2-0 lead.
