Recap: Chicago WSox vs. Cleveland

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Ryan Raburn homered and drove in a season-high five runs and Cleveland batted around in a seven-run fifth inning as the Indians routed the Chicago White Sox, 14-3, in the opener of a four-game set from U.S. Cellular Field.

"He not only gets his, but he gives us a lot of production for a guy that plays maybe half the year or not even that," Indians manager Terry Francona said of Raburn.

Already leading 7-2, Asdrubal Cabrera clubbed a homer to left to lead off the fifth. Charlie Leesman then walked three straight batters to load the bags for Michael Bourn, who singled in a run. Nick Swisher plated a pair with his single to center and Jason Kipnis drew a walk to reload the bases.

Dylan Axelrod took over on the hill and yielded consecutive run-scoring singles to Carlos Santana and Raburn, who plated a pair, before finally retiring the side.

Swisher homered, scored three times and contributed three RBI while Kipnis reached base in all three of his plate appearances and scored twice as Cleveland sits 1 1/2 games behind Tampa Bay for the final A.L. wild card spot.

The Indians have won a franchise-best nine straight games against the White Sox.

Corey Kluber (9-5) won his third straight decision after tossing five innings, allowing two runs on six hits. Josh Tomlin pitched two scoreless innings of relief.

The Indians wasted no time getting to Chicago starter John Danks (4-13) as Swisher belted a solo home run with one out in the top of the first. After Kipnis singled and Santana walked, Raburn homered as well for a 4-0 cushion before the White Sox even took the plate.

"I just couldn't do what I wanted to do," Danks said of his start.

Kipnis doubled in another run in the second inning before Paul Konerko went yard for Chicago in the bottom half.

Each team plated a run in the third inning as well, with Mike Aviles offering a sac fly to right for Cleveland and Alejandro De Aza singling home Marcus Semien in the home half after the latter led off with a ground-rule double to center.

Dayan Viciendo had a sac fly in the eighth to round out the scoring.
