Recap: Los Angeles vs. Arizona

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Paul Goldschmidt went 2-for-4 with two home runs, including the go-ahead blast in the eighth inning, as the Arizona Diamondbacks edged the Los Angeles Dodgers, 3-2, to complete a three-game sweep at Dodger Stadium.

Goldschmidt, who has homered in three straight games, also had a two-run shot in the sixth for the D'backs, winners in four of their last five games.

"It seems like Goldschmidt's been a one-man wrecking crew on us," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. "It doesn't really matter who is out there. He's hit our three best arms."

Wade Miley (3-1) allowed two runs and scattered seven hits over 7 2/3 innings to earn the win. He struck out four without issuing a walk to earn his first win since April 10. Heath Bell gave up a leadoff double in the ninth, but recorded the next three outs to earn his third save.

Nick Punto and Adrian Gonzalez both had RBI doubles for the Dodgers, who have dropped a season-high seven straight games.

Kenley Jansen (1-1) was charged with the loss after giving up Goldschmidt's second homer of the game

Starter Clayton Kershaw was plagued by a lack of run support once again. The 2011 NL Cy Young Award winner gave up just two runs -- one earned -- on five hits over seven innings. Over eight starts this season, Kershaw has received an average of just 2.38 runs per game from the Dodgers' offense.

The Dodgers jumped out to an 2-0 lead in the fourth inning. Dee Gordon singled to open the frame then scored when Punto slapped a double to right field. After Matt Kempt flew out, Gonzalez roped a double to right to push Punto across.

Goldschmidt tied the game in the sixth with his two-run blast. Didi Gregorius reached on a fielding error, and Goldschmidt followed with his homer to left.

After Jansen retired the first two batters in the eighth, Goldschmidt struck again, ripping a towering fly ball that just cleared the fence in left field.

"I hit it and I knew it was going to be close and I kind of lost sight of it and couldn't tell, so I looked at the umpire and he obviously said home run," Goldschmidt said.

Skip Schumaker doubled to open the ninth inning, but Bell was able to record three straight outs to preserve the win.

Game Notes

Goldschmidt, who has nine long balls on the season, homered twice for the first time in his career ... Arizona was 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position ... Kershaw had four strikeouts and boasts a slender 1.62 earned run average this season.

It's been more than two decades since the football team at the University of Colorado hoisted its one and only national championship trophy, and the program has struggled to remain relevant ever since.
