Recap: Los Angeles vs. Philadelphia

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Stephen Fife worked seven scoreless innings as the Los Angeles Dodgers downed the Philadelphia Phillies, 6-1, on Sunday.

Fife (3-2) scattered four hits and struck out five to pick up his second win in as many starts.

Yasiel Puig went 4-for-5 with a double, triple and two runs scored and A.J. Ellis went 3-for-4 with an RBI for the Dodgers, winners in eight of their last nine games.

Puig finished his first calendar month in the bigs with 44 hits, the second most in MLB history behind the 48 Joe DiMaggio recorded in May, 1936.

"I'm really happy to be on that list, but I don't know about Joe DiMaggio. I'm more excited about our team winning," said Puig.

Adrian Gonzalez, Hanley Ramirez and Matt Kemp also drove in one run apiece in the win.

Kyle Kendrick (7-5) gave up four runs on 10 hits over six innings to absorb the loss.

The Dodgers scored three runs in the fourth inning. Puig singled, stole second then scored on Ramirez's base hit to left field. Ramirez then swiped second and moved to third on an Andre Ethier groundout before scoring on Kemp's RBI single to left. Kemp crossed the plate on Jerry Hairston's base hit.

In the fifth, Puig dropped in a one-out triple then scored on Gonzalez's double to right field.

Los Angeles added two more in the eighth to make it 6-0. Kemp singled then scored on Ellis' double to center. After Hairston walked, Scott Van Slyke ripped an pinch-hit single to left to score Ellis.

"They outplayed us. They set themselves up to manufacture runs," Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said. "We couldn't stop them."

Chase Utley reached on a two-out single in the ninth, moved to second on defensive indifference then scored on Jimmy Rollins' single to center.

Game Notes

The Dodgers went 6-for-18 with runners in scoring position ... Puig has 14 multi-hit games since making his major league-debut on June 3 ... Utley has hit safely in nine straight games ... Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard, who went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts, is hitless over his last 20 at-bats.
