Recap: San Francisco vs. Atlanta

San Francisco, CA (Sports Network) - Matt Cain gave up two runs over eight innings to guide the San Francisco Giants to an 8-2 win over the Atlanta Braves in the second of a four-game set at AT&T Park.

Cain (2-2) surrendered just three hits and two walks, while striking out seven to earn his second straight win.

"We needed a lot of length in the game tonight, and he did more than that. He gave us eight solid innings, and threw a terrific game for us," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said.

Angel Pagan clubbed a two-run homer and Marco Scutaro added two hits and a pair of RBI for the Giants, winners in eight of their last 11 games. Buster Posey, Hunter Pence, Brandon Belt and Cain each added an RBI in the win.

Brian McCann hit a two-run homer to provide the only offense for the Braves, who lost for just the second time in six games.

Tim Hudson (4-2) was shelled for six runs on eight hits over just 3 2/3 innings to absorb the loss. It was Hudson's shortest outing of the season.

The Giants went up 6-0 in the fourth inning. With two on and no outs, Posey doubled to left to score Scutaro. Pence followed with an RBI single to plate Pablo Sandoval, and Belt's double scored Posey to make it a three-run game.

"It was a nightmare inning, obviously. I didn't make very good pitches to get the inning going, and then it seemed like when I needed a break here or there, some balls found some holes, they hit some balls that were tough plays, and we just had a hard time stopping the bleeding. A break didn't go our way, that's for sure," said Hudson.

Hudson intentionally walked Brandon Crawford to load the bases with one out, and Cain made him pay, slapping a base hit to right field to score Pence. Scutaro capped the inning with a two-run single to left field.

McCann's homer in the fifth with Dan Uggla made it a four-run game, but Pagan's two-run blast in the sixth pushed the Giants' lead to 8-2.

Game Notes

San Francisco went 6-for-10 with runners in scoring position ... Scutaro has hit safely in 10 straight games ... The Giants are 15-0 when leading after eight innings ... Hudson is 8-5 all-time against the Giants.
