Neil Walker added a solo homer for the Pirates. Starter James McDonald snagged the win by giving up four hits and two runs with six strikeouts over five innings.

Ryan Lavarnway drove in a pair of runs for the Red Sox, while Clay Buchholz allowed Walker's blast in five full frames.
