Peoria, AZ (Sports Network) - Christopher Taylor hit a two-run single in the eighth inning to lead the Seattle Mariners in a 3-1 win over the San Diego Padres in spring training play on Friday.

Kelly Shoppach hit a solo home run while Michael Morse added two hits and a run scored for the Mariners. Felix Hernandez gave up just two hits and struck out nine over six innings in the start.

Yonder Alonso homered for the Padres, who saw starter Tyson Ross give up one run on four hits in 4 2/3 innings.
