Recap: Tampa Bay vs. Pittsburgh

Port Charlotte, FL (Sports Network) - Jeff Locke didn't allow a hit over three innings and Felix Pie had an RBI triple as the Pittsburgh Pirates dispatched the Tampa Bay Rays, 3-2, in their spring training opener.

Chris Leroux, Bryan Morris, Mike Zagurski and Duke Welker each followed Locke with a scoreless inning of work. Darren Ford and Garrett Jones each drove in a run in the victory.

Jeff Niemann fanned two batters and Fernando Rodney struck out the side, both pitching an inning each for Tampa Bay. Kevin Kiermaier had an eighth inning two-RBI double off Vin Mazzaro in the setback.
