Recap: Altoona vs. Pittsburgh

Altoona, PA (Sports Network) - Carlos Paulino drove in a pair of runs as Double-A Altoona took an 8-6 win over Pittsburgh in the final preseason game for the Pirates.

Mel Rojas and Justin Howard each had two hits, an RBI and a run scored, while Andrew Lambo scored twice for Altoona.

Making a start for the Curve, Pirates closer Jason Grilli pitched a scoreless inning, while Justin Wilson got the win for pitching a scoreless fifth.

Starling Marte hit a grand slam and Andy Vasquez and Stefan Welch each drove in a run for the Pirates, who saw starter James McDonald give up four runs on three hits with four walks in just two innings.

Pittsburgh starts its regular season at home against the Chicago Cubs on Monday.
