Recap: Detroit vs. Tampa Bay

Lakeland, FL (Sports Network) - Prince Fielder and Alex Avila each hit a two- run homer as the Detroit Tigers posted an 8-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday in spring training play.

Fielder finished with three RBI and Omar Infante added a solo shot as the Tigers plated all eight runs in the first three innings. Starter Max Scherzer pitched well, striking out nine batters and allowing just one hit over six scoreless frames.

Sam Fuld hit a two-run homer and James Harris knocked in the other run for the Rays, who saw starter Jeremy Hellickson give up eight runs -- six earned -- on seven hits in three innings.
