Recap: Texas vs. Kansas City

Surprise, AZ (Sports Network) - Yangervis Solarte hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to even the score and the Texas Rangers and Kansas City Royals ended in a 5-5 tie during the spring training opener for both teams.

Xavier Nady, Elliot Johnson, Eric Hosmer and Adam Moore each had an RBI for the Royals before David Lough's run scoring single in the top of the ninth put Kansas City ahead 5-3.

Derek Holland started for Texas, giving up six hits and an earned run over three innings of work. Nelson Cruz hit a fourth inning two-run homer and Craig Gentry contributed an RBI single in the seventh.
