Recap: Kansas City vs. Oakland

Surprise, AZ (Sports Network) - Brandon Wood hit a two-run homer, Brett Hayes launched a solo shot and the Kansas City Royals beat the Oakland Athletics, 8-2, in Cactus League action.

Alcides Escobar had two hits and scored a run for the Royals, while Bruce Chen tossed three solid innings. The veteran lefthander gave up just two hits, including a two-out, second-inning single by John Jaso that plated Hiroyuki Nakajima, who had doubled.

Oakland starter Bartolo Colon was tagged for five runs and seven hits in two innings.
