Recap: Milwaukee vs. San Diego

Milwaukee, WI (SportsNetwork.com) - Jean Segura's three-run homer in the second inning powered the Milwaukee Brewers to a 5-2 victory over the San Diego Padres in the rubber match of a three-game set.

Khris Davis also homered while Ryan Braun supplied two hits and an RBI for the Brewers, who have won five of their last six.

Kyle Lohse (4-1) won his fourth straight start, allowing only two runs -- one earned -- on five hits with five strikeouts across seven innings. Francisco Rodriguez struck out two in a scoreless ninth to earn his ninth save of the season.

Seth Smith and Nick Hundley each drove in a run for San Diego, which has dropped three of its last four. Starter Tyson Ross (2-3) was reached for five runs on nine hits over six innings in defeat.

"He just couldn't get ahead of hitters and put them away," Padres manager Bud Black said of Ross. "They jumped out on some balls that were out of over the plate. The big blow was the home run."

The Padres took a 1-0 lead in the opening frame. Everth Cabrera led off with a sharp line-drive double to center, Chris Denorfia's groundout moved him to third and he came home on Smith's sacrifice fly to left.

Milwaukee answered back in the home half of the first. Scooter Gennett reached on a line drive single with one out and Braun brought him around with a line drive into the gap in center.

Davis and Lyle Overbay both singled to left before Segura smoked a line-drive homer to left, making it a 4-1 game.

"You get some runs on the board, it is big for us to go out and shut down the next inning to keep the other team down and keep the momentum going," Lohse said.

The Brewers added another run in the fourth. After working a 3-1 count, Davis homered on a fly ball to left to lead off the frame.

The Padres got a run back in the seventh. Will Venable singled on a line drive that was deflected by Lohse with one out. He was then tagged out at second after Jedd Gyorko grounded into a force out. Yonder Alonso reached on Overbay's fielding error to put runners on the corners. Hundley's line drive to center scored Gyorko to make it a 5-2 game.

Game Notes

The Brewers are 13-0 when scoring at least four runs in a game ... Smith extended his hitting streak to five games ... This was only the second time in Ross' career that he allowed more than one home run in a game. The other time was when he allowed three on May 25, 2012 against the Yankees ... San Diego went 1-for-4 with runners in scoring position and left six runners on base.
