Recap: Cincinnati vs. Milwaukee

Cincinnati, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Johnny Cueto has been in a groove as of late and it continued on Saturday in a stellar outing against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Cueto (3-2) hurled eight innings of two-run ball with 10 strikeouts to lead the Cincinnati Reds to a 6-2 win over the Brewers in the third matchup of a four-game set.

The 28-year-old Dominican has allowed just three earned runs with 37 strikeouts in 34 innings over his last four starts. He's allowed three hits in all four outings en route to three victories.

"He was very pitch efficient," said Reds manager Bryan Price on Cueto's outing. "He was at 89 pitches heading into the eighth and after a 25-pitch inning, we weren't going to send him out in the ninth."

Sam LeCure pitched a perfect ninth to close out the win.

Bryan Pena had two RBI for the Reds, while Cueto, Ryan Ludwick and Todd Frazier each drove in a run apiece in the win.

Aramis Ramirez and Mark Reynolds each hit solo homers for the Brewers, who dropped two of three in the set heading into Sunday's series finale.

Milwaukee starter Yovani Gallardo (2-1) was tagged for four runs on nine hits over six innings with just one strikeout.

"Obviously we're not swinging the bat that well," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said of the offense. "Just as a group we'll get it going. It's tough sometimes when you're facing the pitchers we're facing."

Ramirez led off the second inning with a long drive to left that cleared the wall and gave the visitors a 1-0 edge.

Brandon Phillips and Jay Bruce singled with one out in the fourth and Gallardo proceeded to hit Frazier with a pitch to load the bases.

Ludwick followed with a single to left that plated Phillips and Pena knocked in Bruce and Frazier with a single of his own in the next at-bat.

Reynolds cut the deficit in half at 3-2 after he pummeled a Cueto offering into left-center.

Cueto helped his own caused in the sixth with an RBI single. Frazier then knocked in Phillips with a double in the seventh and later scored on a wild pitch from Tyler Thornburg to cap the scoring.

Game Notes

Cueto entered the game with a 5-0 record and 2.25 ERA in eight career home starts against Milwaukee ... The Brewers were 0-for-1 with runners in scoring position, while Cincinnati went 4-for-11 with RISP.
