Recap: Milwaukee vs. Arizona

Milwaukee, WI ( - Aaron Hill clubbed the tie-breaking two- run homer in the eighth inning and the Arizona Diamondbacks topped the Milwaukee Brewers, 7-5, on Tuesday.

Paul Goldschmidt went 3-for-5 and also belted a two-run homer for the Diamondbacks, who scored three times in the eighth to post their fourth win in six games. Goldschmidt is hitting a robust .469 (15-for-32) with three homers and 10 RBI in eight games at Miller Park.

Logan Schafer's two-run double highlighted a five-run opening inning for the Brewers, who lost for the fifth time in seven contests.

Josh Collmenter allowed eight hits and five runs -- one earned -- in 5 2/3 innings for Arizona, while Marco Estrada was charged with four hits and as many runs over six frames for the Brewers.

"I just wanted to give the team a chance to win," Collmenter said. "We've been battling all year, and this isn't any different. When you get a comeback win like this, it's huge for the club."

Goldschmidt doubled to right off Brandon Kintzler (1-1) with one out in the eighth, and Miguel Montero tied the game with a line single to right-center. Hill then smashed a 1-0 offering over the wall in left field.

"He's making some mistakes, but we need this guy to pitch well and pitch the way he did last year," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said of Kintzler, who gave up a homer and blew a save chance in Sunday's loss to the Reds. "We can't keep switching guys in innings. We would have had to use three guys that inning. I didn't want to use three guys."

Evan Marshall (1-0), who had his contract purchased from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday, got the win in his major league debut by pitching 1 1/3 hitless innings.

Addison Reed retired the side in order in the ninth to record his ninth save.

Replay worked in Arizona's favor in the first inning. Gerardo Parra, celebrating his 27th birthday Tuesday, singled to start the game, but was then picked off. The Diamondbacks challenged the call, which was reversed. Two batters later, Goldschmidt belted his sixth homer of the year, a shot to left.

Milwaukee sent nine men to the plate in a five-run bottom of the first. Lyle Overbay's line base hit to center scored Scooter Gennett and Milwaukee went ahead when Chris Owings threw the ball low to first on a grounder from Khris Davis, which scored Jonathan Lucroy. Jean Segura then hit a soft line single to left-center field for a 3-1 lead, and Schafer capped the rally with a two-run double to right over the head of Parra.

Collmenter's groundout scored A.J. Pollock in the fifth and Owings led off the sixth with a homer to left for a 5-4 margin.
