Recap: Miami vs. NY Mets

Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Marcell Ozuna's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth was the game's only run and sent Miami past the New York Mets, 1-0, in the finale of a three-game set.

Giancarlo Stanton began the ninth against Carlos Torres (2-1) with a single, and Casey McGehee walked. A Garrett Jones fly to deep right put runners on the corners for Ozuna, whose fly to right off Kyle Farnsworth was just deep enough to score the winning run.

Stanton had delayed leaving third on the play, and if not for Mets catcher Anthony Recker dropping the ball, stood a prime chance of being thrown out.

"I thought the ball was going to go over second base for a base hit," said Ozuna. "Then I saw the centerfielder get behind the ball and I said, 'Oh my God, Lagares has got a good arm.' I thought he was going to get the out at home."

Steve Cishek (3-1) picked up the win thanks to a scoreless top of the ninth. Tom Koehler worked the first eight scoreless innings, giving up two hits and one walk while striking out five for the Marlins, who swept the series.

Miami, which ended their residency a franchise-best 8-1, continued to match their 1997 World Series champion counterparts for best home start at 17-5.

Lucas Duda and David Wright collected the only hits for the Mets, who finished 2-6 on their road trip and went scoreless over the final 23 innings.

"We just haven't gotten any hits," Mets manager Terry Collins said. "It's gone with the whole offensive package so far. We've been struggling offensively."

Zach Wheeler fanned seven but walked five while giving up two hits over six scoreless frames.

New York left a runner on second in the first, but didn't put a man in scoring position until the eighth inning. Duda singled and was sacrificed to second, but stayed there after pinch-hitters Bobby Abreu and Josh Satin fanned swinging.

Miami put two on with two down in the fourth but came up empty after Jones flied out to center. The Marlins put runners on the corners with two away in the sixth but Jones also killed that rally on a grounder to first.

Game Notes

The teams combined to go 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position and stranded nine ... Miami begins a long western road trip at San Diego on Thursday, while New York returns home to host the Phillies on Friday.
