Recap: Arizona vs. Los Angeles

Phoenix, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Paul Goldschmidt finished 4-for-5 with a pair of home runs and six RBI as Arizona's offense exploded for an 18-7 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday in the middle game of a three-game series.

The Diamondbacks set franchise records for runs scored, hits in a nine-inning game (21) and extra-base hits (13).

"Anybody they threw at us, we were patient, got good pitches to hit and hammered them," said Arizona manager Kirk Gibson.

Martin Prado added three hits and drove in three and Cliff Pennington contributed two RBI for the Diamondbacks, who snapped a two-game slide.

Chris Owings, A.J. Pollock and Eric Chavez each added a solo homer, with Pollock posting four hits and three runs scored and Owings totaling three hits and crossing the plate four times.

Chase Anderson (2-0) did enough to snag the win, allowing seven hits and five runs over 5 1/3 innings.

Carl Crawford hit a three-run homer and Yasiel Puig added a two-run blast for the Dodgers, who surrendered a season high run total in losing for the sixth time in their last 10. Andre Ethier knocked in two in defeat.

"Give them a lot of credit they swung the bats extremely well," said Dodgers catcher A.J. Ellis. "Anytime we were in the middle of the plate, they didn't miss it. That is what good teams do. That is a good team over there."

Clayton Kershaw (2-1) was rocked for six hits and seven runs while recording only five outs, the second-shortest start of his career.

Once down 7-0 and 9-2, the Dodgers closed within 9-7 in the sixth thanks to Crawford's three-run blast with Adrian Gonzalez and Matt Kemp aboard, followed by Ethier's pinch-hit two run double after Juan Uribe singled and Ellis reached on an error.

Prado put the D-Backs into double digits by doubling home Goldschmidt in the home half, and Goldschmidt's three-run blast to left in the seventh along with Parra's RBI double extended the hosts' edge to 14-7.

Chavez and Pollock went back-to-back with one out in the eighth and Arizona held a 16-7 edge. Owings followed with a double then Goldschmidt launched his second homer of the game to produce the winning margin.

Arizona jumped in front with seven runs in the second, giving Anderson a generous cushion.

Cody Ross worked a leadoff walk, Prado singled him to third, then Pennington tripled home a pair two batters later and Tuffy Gosewisch singled for a 3-0 game. Anderson sacrificed Gosewisch to second, and Pollock followed with a run-scoring triple. Owings added another triple to make it 5-0, then Goldshmidt doubled in Owings before a balk moved him to third.

Ross walked and Kershaw was finally lifted for Jamey Wright, who served up Prado's RBI single before retiring Alfredo Marte on a fielder's choice grounder.

Los Angeles responded in the third on Puig's two-run blast, which came after Dee Gordon worked a one-out walk, but Owings' shot to commence the last of the fourth gave the hosts an 8-2 edge. The lead grew to 9-2 after Goldshmidt walked, Ross singled and Prado's fielder's choice grounder brought in Goldschmidt.
