Recap: Detroit vs. Texas

Detroit, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Anibal Sanchez helped the Detroit Tigers put an end to a four-game losing streak by pitching them to a 7-2 victory over the Texas Rangers on Friday.

Sanchez (2-2) was touched for three straight hits in the second inning -- the last a two-run double by Mitch Moreland -- but settled down by allowing only two baserunners over the next five frames.

"We just couldn't do anything with Sanchez after that second inning," Rangers manager Ron Washington said.

The right-hander yielded five hits, did not issue a walk and struck out five in seven innings of work, and Detroit's offense provided plenty of support.

"He threw the ball really well," Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said. "All of his pitches seemed to be working."

Ian Kinsler hit three doubles, scored three times and drove in a run, Torii Hunter had two RBI, and Austin Jackson and Andrew Romine both homered.

Scott Baker (0-1), making his first start of the season, was touched for six runs on eight hits over six innings for Texas, which had won three of four coming in, including the opener of this four-game series on Thursday.

Jackson countered Moreland's two-run double in the second frame with a two-run blast in the bottom half, and back-to-back doubles down the right-field line in the third put the Tigers ahead for good, as Kinsler came around on Miguel Cabrera's opposite-field knock.

Kinsler accounted for two more runs in the fifth when he doubled in Rajai Davis and scored on Torii Hunter's fielder's choice groundout.

Romine, hitless in 22 consecutive at-bats leading up to the sixth, lined one off the right-field foul pole for his first career home run.

The solo blast made it 6-2, and Hunter's RBI groundout in the seventh capped the scoring.

Game Notes

Romine's first home run came in his 236th career at-bat ... Sanchez came in 0-3 with a 9.49 ERA in three career starts against Texas ... Adrian Beltre and Alex Rios each had two hits for the Rangers ... Texas has used an MLB-high 10 starters this season.
