Recap: Philadelphia vs. NY Mets

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - David Wright delivered a two-out RBI single in the top of the 14th inning to lift the New York Mets to a 5-4 win over the Philadelphia Phillies in the third installment of a five-game series at Citizens Bank Park.

Antonio Bastardo (3-3) replaced reliever Jeff Manship, who didn't allow a base runner in four innings but was injured running out a possible game-winning infield hit in the 13th. Bastardo walked Ruben Tejada and pinch-hitter Juan Lagares laid down a sac bunt to start the frame. Following an intentional walk and a pop out, Wright connected on a fastball to left to plate the go-ahead run.

"The bullpen was outstanding aside from that last inning," Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg said. "Manship (went) four innings. He left with a right quad strain."

Buddy Carlyle (1-0) pitched three innings of relief, allowing just two hits to earn his first win of the season.

After allowing the first two base runners to reach in the bottom of the 14th, Carlos Torres struck out two around a line out to secure his second save of the season.

Tejada finished 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a pair of RBI and two runs scored for the Mets, who have won five of their last seven contests.

"The only thing that we accomplished is that we won it," said Mets manager Terry Collins. "Don't ask me how because I'll tell you there are some tired bodies. They're tired."

The Phillies had a couple of opportunities in the extra innings to win the game but failed to come through.

With a runner on third and two outs in the 13th, it looked like Manship was going to beat out a chopper to second before pulling up with his quad injury. Philadelphia also had runners on the corners in the 10th with two outs but Marlon Byrd struck out to end the inning.

Earlier, Chris Young and Daniel Murphy each singled to begin the game. With runners on the corners and two outs, Bobby Abreu knocked in Young with a single to right and Lucas Duda followed with an RBI double to right to make it 2-0.

Tejada crushed a two-out solo home run to left in the fourth that snapped a personal 552 at-bat homerless streak.

The Mets made it 4-0 in the sixth on a two-out RBI single to left off the bat of Tejada. Abreu doubled and Duda was intentionally walked to reach base.

Ryan Howard crushed a hanging curveball to pull the Phillies within a run in the seventh. Jimmy Rollins singled to start the frame and Chase Utley followed with a walk before Howard's three-run homer to left field.

Ben Revere hit his third triple of the season with one out in the eighth off Daisuke Matsuzaka. Scott Rice, who took the mound after a Rollins' groundout to first, walked Utley on four pitches. Rice then fanned Howard to keep the 4-3 advantage.

Byrd smacked a double that landed just fair in right field to start the ninth. Domonic Brown tied the game with a line drive into left field. Pinch-hitter Cesar Hernandez followed with a sacrifice bunt to put Brown in scoring position, but Friday's hero, Reid Brignac, struck out and Carlos Ruiz popped out to end the threat.
