Recap: Los Angeles vs. Chicago WSox

Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - John Danks tossed 7 1/3 innings of one- run ball and the Chicago White Sox took the rubber match of a three-game set against the Los Angeles Dodgers with a 2-1 win on Wednesday.

Danks (4-5) limited the Dodgers to just one hit over seven innings before allowing a one-out double to Dee Gordon in the eighth that ended his night.

"John was great," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said of his starter. "He has made some adjustments. His control was better and he had more zip on his fastball. Our guys are pitching well and the bullpen is doing their job."

Leury Garcia and Adam Dunn homered for Chicago to account for its offense, as the White Sox won for the third time in their last four games.

Josh Beckett (3-3) was charged with two runs on nine hits over six innings in the tough-luck loss.

"Josh (Beckett) threw the ball good but Danks was that good." said Dodgers manager Don Mattingly. "(Danks) was just better than us tonight. We are just not getting it done. We need a win."

Gordon had the only two hits and Hanley Ramirez knocked in the lone run for the Dodgers, who have dropped six of their last eight.

Chicago's offense came via the longball in successive innings, as Garcia and Dunn opened the third and fourth frames, respectively, with homers.

Gordon doubled down the left-field line with one out in the eighth, then stole third before Yasiel Puig walked to put runners at the corners. Ramirez hit a sharp grounder to third, but Garcia couldn't turn the double play as Gordon scored to cut the deficit in half.

Scott Downs relieved Zach Putnam and induced an inning-ending groundout off the bat of Adrian Gonzalez to keep the visitors in front.

Ronald Belisario came in to pitch the ninth and set the Dodgers down in order to convert his second save in as many days and his fifth save of the season.

Game Notes

Puig has reached base in an MLB-leading 36 straight games ... The Dodgers wrapped up their 10-game homestand with a 4-6 mark ... LA went 0-for-2 with runners in scoring position, while Chicago went 0-for-7 in those instances.
