Recap: LA Angels vs. Chicago WSox

Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Mike Trout launched a game-tying grand slam and Erick Aybar added a go-ahead single as the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim scored six runs in the eighth to rally for a 6-5 victory over the Chicago White Sox in the middle contest of a three-game set Saturday at Angel Stadium.

Chicago starter Chris Sale cruised through the first seven frames and took the hill in the eighth with his team leading 5-0, but Aybar opened the inning with a double before scoring on Chris Iannetta's single to center to get the Halos on the board.

"Chris was going pretty good at that point," Chicago manager Robin Ventura said of Sale prior to his eighth-inning unraveling. "They found holes (in the eighth). When it happens, it happens fast."

After Collin Cowgill reached on shortstop Alexei Ramirez's fielding error, Howie Kendrick ripped a single to right to load the bases for Trout, who clubbed a payoff pitch over the wall in center field to tie the game.

"It was a 3-2 count and I just tried to put it up the middle," Trout said. "I hit it pretty good."

Jake Petricka (0-1) promptly replaced Sale and retired the next two hitters, but Josh Hamilton and C.J. Cron stroked back-to-back singles before Aybar's base hit to center plated the deciding run.

Ernesto Frieri fired a 1-2-3 ninth to nail down his ninth save of the season, while reliever Cory Rasmus (1-0) picked up the win after spinning a pair of hitless innings.

Hamilton finished 3-for-4 with a run scored for the Angels, who have won three of their last four games.

Alejandro De Aza went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored, while Adam Dunn added a solo homer in the setback.

De Aza helped Chicago strike first in the third inning, ripping a leadoff double and moving to third on a sacrifice bunt before scoring on Adam Eaton's single to right.

Eaton then advanced to second on an errant pickoff attempt from Angels starter Matt Shoemaker before scoring on Gordon Beckham's base hit to center.

De Aza's two-out double in the fourth scored Ramirez, who singled earlier in the frame, to make it 3-0 before Dunn opened the sixth with his 11th homer of the season. De Aza added a sacrifice fly later in the frame for a 5-0 lead.

Sale, meanwhile, held the Halos hitless over the first four frames before giving up a leadoff single to Hamilton in the fifth.

The Chicago southpaw didn't allow another hit until the seventh, when David Freese and Hamilton smacked back-to-back base hits to put men on the corners with two outs. However, after Hamilton swiped second, Sale struck out Cron to escape the frame unscathed.
