Recap: Toronto vs. Minnesota

Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Kevin Correia spun six-plus strong innings and the Minnesota Twins grabbed a 4-0 win over the Toronto Blue Jays in the second of a three-game set.

Correia (3-7) gave up six hits and a walk with one strikeout, while Brian Duensing, Jared Burton and Glen Perkins each tossed a scoreless frame to polish off the shutout for the Twins, who had lost four of five coming into the game.

"I think once he got going he got his confidence," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said of Correia. "Great performance by him."

Brian Dozier hit a two-run home run while Danny Santana had two hits, drove in one and scored once in the win.

J.A. Happ (5-3) was tagged for four runs -- three earned -- on six hits in just 3 2/3 innings for the Blue Jays, who have lost three of their last four with the three losses all coming by way of a shutout.

"I felt like I was locating for the most part. It doesn't really matter ... all that matters is the results," Happ said.

Minnesota got all the runs it needed in its first turn at the bat, as Santana led off the game with a walk and Dozier clubbed a pitch over the wall in left for his 14th home run and a 2-0 lead.

Toronto loaded the bases with one out in the second and Jose Reyes hit a grounder up the middle that appeared headed for the outfield, but Correia threw the glove behind his back and snagged the ball, going home for a force out. Melky Cabrera then grounded out to end the frame.

In the fourth, Minnesota put its first three men on base, but the next two batters struck out. Santana then hit a chopper to third that Juan Francisco barehanded, but his throw to first was way off and two runs came home for a 4-0 lead.

Correia gave up a leadoff single to Dioner Navarro to start the seventh, prompting Duensing to come on in relief. Reyes hit a two-out single to put a runner in scoring position, but Cabrera lined out to third to end the inning.

Burton tossed a 1-2-3 eighth, while Perkins worked around a two-out walk to finish the game.

Game Notes
