Recap: Milwaukee vs. Cincinnati

Milwaukee, WI (SportsNetwork.com) - Billy Hamilton smacked a leadoff homer among his three hits, two RBI and pair of runs scored as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the Milwaukee Brewers, 13-4, in the finale of a three-game set.

Brandon Phillips and Todd Frazier cracked two-run shots, while Ryan Ludwick went 4-for-5 with two runs scored for the Reds, who pounded out a season-high 19 hits. Frazier also had a two-run double.

Mike Leake (4-6) allowed four runs on nine hits and three walks over five innings to notch the win.

Jonathan Lucroy hit a solo homer and Marco Estrada (5-4) surrendered five runs on eight hits over five frames for Milwaukee, which had won five of its last seven games coming in.

"I was trying too hard, way too hard," Estrada said.

The Reds led 5-4 before breaking the game wide open following a five-run eighth where 10 batters were sent to the plate. They hit six straight singles to begin the frame.

Jay Bruce, Ludwick, Devon Mesoraco, Zack Cozart, pinch-hitter Skip Schumaker and Hamilton all posted base hits to start the eighth, which plated three runs.

After Frazier struck out, Joey Votto worked a bases-loaded walk and Phillips' sacrifice fly to center gave Cincinnati a commanding 10-4 advantage.

"It saved us from having to use (Jonathan) Broxton and even having to get (Aroldis) Chapman up at all," Reds manager Bryan Price said of the five-run eighth.

Cozart's RBI groundout and Frazier's two-run double in the ninth made it 13-4.

Cincinnati opened the scoring with three runs in the first.

Hamilton cracked a 1-2 curveball into the right field seats to lead off the game. Frazier flied out and Votto singled before Phillips launched his two-run shot over the wall in left center.

Milwaukee got all three runs back in the fourth, but the Reds went ahead again after pushing across two more in the fifth.

Khris Davis hit a two-out single, Mark Reynolds doubled and Leake intentionally walked Jean Segura to load the bases. Estrada blooped a single into shallow center to plate Davis and Scooter Gennett followed by whacking a double to left to bring home Reynolds and Segura to tie the game.

Hamilton singled to start the fifth before Frazier belted his two-run blast into left-center to give the Reds a 5-3 edge.

Milwaukee cut the deficit to 5-4 in the home half following Lucroy's leadoff shot to center.
