Recap: Colorado vs. Milwaukee

Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Aramis Ramirez stroked a two-run homer as the Milwaukee Brewers held on to beat the Colorado Rockies, 6-5, to complete a three-game sweep on Sunday.

Lyle Overbay had a solo homer and Jonathan Lucroy drove in a run for the Brewers, who completed a sweep at Coors Field for the first time since June 29-July 1, 2004 and went 6-1 on their road trip.

"It was a great road trip, certainly with the wins," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said.

Kyle Lohse (9-3), who improved his road record to 6-1, allowed three runs on seven hits and three walks over five innings.

In his third career start, Tyler Matzek (1-2) was tagged for five runs on seven hits and four walks across 5 1/3 innings to absorb the loss.

Wilin Rosario collected four hits and was a triple shy of the cycle with three RBI and a pair of runs scored for the Rockies, who have lost six straight contests.

The ninth inning wasn't as easy as Francisco Rodriguez would have liked on his way to a major league-leading 25th save.

Corey Dickerson just missed a home run to start the frame and ended up with a triple off the wall in right. The relay throw went past Ramirez at third, but Dickerson fell halfway between third and home and was easily tagged out.

"He was going to score on that play," Rockies manager Walt Weiss said.

Rosario followed with a solo shot to straightaway center to cut the deficit to 6-5. A strikeout and groundout sealed the win for Milwaukee (47-30), which owns the National League's best record.

With what was an insurance run at the time, Overbay's pinch-hit, solo shot to lead off the top half of the inning ended up being the game-winning run.

Ramirez crushed a two-run homer into the left-field seats in the second as the Brewers grabbed an early lead. Carlos Gomez bunted his way on to lead off. Two singles and a walk loaded the bases. Khris Davis scored on a Lohse double play to make it 3-0.

Colorado got a run back in the home half. Rosario singled to start the frame and moved to second on a fly out. Rickie Weeks couldn't handle a Charlie Culberson hit up the middle and Rosario beat Weeks' throw home.

Rosario's two-out, two-run double to right-center in the third evened the score at 3-3. Drew Stubbs singled and Dickerson kept the inning alive with a two-out walk.

Culberson's fielding error on a Weeks grounder kept the fifth inning going. Ryan Braun then drew a four-pitch walk. Lucroy knocked in Weeks with a single to right. As Lucroy got in a rundown between first and second, Braun scampered home and beat Justin Morneau's throw to put the Brewers up 5-3.

Stubbs two-out, RBI triple in the eight pulled the Rockies within a run. Following an intentional walk to Tulowitzki, Will Smith got Morneau to ground out to keep the Brewers ahead.

Game Notes

It was Overbay's 150 career home run ... Gomez has reached base safely in 35 consecutive games, the longest current streak in the majors ... Ramirez extended his hitting streak to nine games ... Colorado finished 2-for-13 with runners in scoring position ... It was Brewers manager Ron Roenicke's 300th managerial career win.

Dorm Report: Defensive breakout candidates

While Jadeveon Clowney, Khalil Mack, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and the like have moved on to the NFL, there is still plenty of talent on the defensive side of the ball left in college football.
