Recap: Seattle vs. Boston

Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Logan Morrison's career night highlighted a one-sided victory for Seattle as the Mariners rolled a fourth straight victory by hammering the Boston Red Sox, 12-3, in the opener of a three-game series.

Morrison went 4-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI for the Mariners, who erupted for 14 hits and chased John Lackey with a six-spot in the fourth.

Endy Chavez capped that frame with a three-run triple, while Kyle Seager finished with three hits, three runs scored and two RBI in the rout.

Felix Hernandez (9-2) was the beneficiary of the run support and picked up the win after allowing two runs on six hits over seven solid innings.

"I was so happy. They really came through," Hernandez said of the run support.

Lackey (8-5), whose ERA in June stood at 1.60 coming in, was hammered for seven runs on seven hits and two walks over just 3 2/3 innings as Boston fell to 1-4 on its 10-game road trip.

"I felt pretty good the first couple innings," Lackey said. "Struggled obviously in the fourth inning, wasn't able to make a pitch to get out of there."

David Ortiz singled in a run in the first inning, and Mike Napoli followed up Morrison's solo blast in the second with one of his own in the fourth.

The only other offense the Red Sox mustered came on A.J. Pierzynski's sacrifice fly in the ninth, but by then the outcome had long been decided after Lackey came undone in the fourth.

Robinson Cano started the rally with a double and scored on Seager's base hit, and Dustin Ackley later plated Seager with a fielder's choice grounder.

After Morrison raced home on a wild pitch, Chavez stepped in with the bases loaded and launched one over the head of a shallow-playing Brock Holt in right field. Ackley, Brad Miller and Willie Bloomquist scored on the triple, and it was suddenly a 7-2 game.

Morrison tacked on a run-scoring single the next frame, then capped his big day with a no-doubter to straightaway center during a four-run seventh. Cano and Seager contributed RBI singles earlier in the inning.

Game Notes

This was Morrison's first career multi-home run game ... Hernandez improved to 8-2 in 14 career starts against Boston ... Boston starters had allowed three earned runs or less in 11 straight games ... Lackey had thrown at least five innings in a career-best 39 consecutive starts.
