Recap: Philadelphia vs. Miami

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Marlon Byrd crushed a two-run blast to power the Philadelphia Phillies to a 7-4 win against the Miami Marlins in the second installment of a four-game series at Citizens Bank Park.

Cody Asche doubled in two runs for the Phillies, who snapped a three-game skid, where they scored a combined four runs.

"It makes a big difference getting runs up on the board," said Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg.

Coming off his best big league outing, David Buchanan (4-3) had another effective performance. He tossed five innings, allowing two runs on six hits and four walks to win his third straight start.

In his second career start, Andrew Heaney (0-2) yielded five runs on four hits while fanning five across five-plus innings.

Garrett Jones connected on a two-run homer and Casey McGehee had an RBI for Miami, which has lost three of its last four contests.

"We had quite a few guys on base early in that game. Had we been able to get that big hit early on, maybe we could have kept it a little closer game," Marlins manager Mike Redmond said.

The Phillies jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first.

Jimmy Rollins was hit by a pitch and Chase Utley drew a walk. Jarrod Saltalamacchia's throw to third on a double steal was wild and Rollins scampered home. Byrd ripped a two-out, two-run shot over the left-center field wall.

Utley dropped an infield fly pop up with the bases loaded in the second to allow the Marlins to score a run.

Phillies got that run back in the home half on a wild pitch that scored Ben Revere, who hit his fourth triple of the year to reach base.

Stanton's second double of the night put runners on second and third with one out in the fifth. McGehee plated Derek Dietrich with a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 4-2.

Ryan Howard opened up the sixth inning with a double that chased Heaney from the game. Byrd reached on a Dietrich fielding error and Asche's double off Bryan Morris into the right-field corner increased the cushion to 6-2. Asche came home from third on a wild pitch.

"I got some barrel on it and snuck it past the first baseman," said Asche. "We took advantage of the opportunities we had."

Miami cut the lead to 7-4 in the eighth on Jones' two-run homer to right.

Jonathan Papelbon worked around a two-out base hit in the ninth to capture his 18th save of the season.
